“Madison Indiana Wildflowers”
It has been an incredible show so far, best wildflower bloom I have seen in at least five years, Clifty Falls State Park has been putting on show the last few days that don’t come around often. I spent yesterday evening in the gorge at Clifty Falls and have never seen so many varieties blooming at once and the colors are so vibrant I can’t begin to describe them !!
The ground was virtually covered in Blue-Eyed Marys and Virginia Bluebells, and in between Wild Phlox and false Rue Anemone added a great contrast to the vivid colors. I have been able to really get a lot of great shots this year, hopefully this trend will continue this spring !!
I think the peak is right now and probably after this weekend things will go downhill fast, so if you want to see the show this weekend should be your best bet !!
Here are some more shots from Southern Indiana and Clifty I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I did in capturing their beauty , thanks for stopping by and taking a look !!

“Survived the Swine Flu”
After ten days and countless hours in bed I think I have finally put the worst behind me, if they were right and my son and I both had the swine flu I will have to disagree with the assertion that it is harder on the young than the old, my son struggled with it a bit but it put me down really hard !!
I hope this puts to an end the flu season for me and my family but I know the odds of that happening are slim to none, after a couple of years of relatively flu free winters this could end up being a nasty year !! So now it’s wait and see what next strain will come calling and how bad it will be, it doesn’t help that my son is in Elementary School, my wife works in a hospital and I coach High School Basketball. Can’t run and hide from it when you have that many possible exposures !!
Moving on to something a little more pleasant Scott Thomas at http://stphoto.wordpress.com/ has a monthly assignment on his blog, and this months assignment is what November means to you and to me it means fall color !!
I shot this one a few November’s back and really loved the curve in the creek and the colorful leaves sprinkled all thru out the image. Take a look at Scott’s Blog there is a lot of great shots there and some very informative posts. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look hope you stay healthy and flu free this year !!

“Indiana Waterfalls”
I thought it might be time to post more waterfall images that I have shot recently, in earlier posts I have shared with you the fact that Jefferson County Indiana has an abundance of waterfalls in the gorges and canyons that lead down into the Ohio River, I have shared some of those images with you earlier and here is one I shot last Saturday that I thought might be worth taking a look at.
This falls has no name that I know of but since it is close to a school I thought I might dub it Schoolhouse Falls, kinda of corny but what the heck, it has a sheer 50-60 ft. drop that is located in a beautiful wooded canyon near Hanover Indiana just outside Madison. At the top of the Falls it also has a smaller 10 ft. Falls that leads out onto the ledge before it plummets to the bottom of the gorge.
I can also tell you this one and most other Falls in our region are very hard to get to and are not for the week of heart or body to try to hike to, very steep cliffs and boulder strewn creeks make the hike treacherous for the novice hiker. Even though I may be getting up there in years I do pride myself as a strong hiker and none of these Falls are easy for me to hike to so be very careful if you ever attempt to hike to one.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.
You can also click on it for the larger size if you like.
Spring is Finally Here !!
After a very long cold and snowy winter spring finally came to Southern Indiana and Madison, the wildflowers are really bursting out all over the place and I have been getting a few decent shots, everyday brings forth more color and varieties so I should have a few images to post real soon.
I took a hike the night before last and got a few flower images but I also got this image of the cascade below Hoffman Falls in Clifty Fall State Park, the sun was setting behind me and gave the scene a shot of some interesting light. I am not sure I like the bright spot on the right side of the image, but I still think it turned out pretty good.
The creeks and falls are running wide open since we have received about 20 inches of rain since March 1, no kidding 20 inches, so I have been getting a few landscape shots as well. All in all it looks like spring may turn out a lot better than I first thought it would.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.
Hoffman Branch
This small waterfalls is located in a canyon in Clifty Falls State Park, it is at the bottom of a gorge known as Hoffman Branch, this is one of the best places in the state of Indiana to view and photograph wildflowers in my opinion( which probably doesn’t mean much). The waterfall is a nice diversion from the difficult hike one must make to ascend this creek up to where to best view the wildflowers and waterfalls in this part of the park. It is a very beautiful location in both the spring and fall a must visit if you ever come to the park.
