“Madison Indiana Flooding”

My,my it doesn’t take long for things to change.. Over the weekend I took a wonderful hike up Cooked Creek and shared some images with you that I thought conveyed the beauty of the area, and less than 72 hours later this same creek has become a roaring river after the torrential amounts of rain we have received this morning, 4-5 inches is what I heard last.  It could have been much worse and we could be in Louisville Kentucky where they received 6.5 inches in 75 minutes, a record for that amount of time !!

The images I am posting were all shot from a safe distance, if I were to venture into the areas I did this past weekend I would probably been under 20 ft of water, or floating down the Ohio River now !!  This creek can change it’s mood very quickly when we receive medium amounts of moisture but when we get rain like we did today it can become deadly, hopefully everyone was evacuated in time and got out intact.

The flooding in Louisville was incredible and if you get a chance to see it on TV you should take a look, I believe Churchill Downs and the University of Louisville were all underwater at sometime today, there were many water rescues and flooded homes and basements were widespread.  So as bad as it was here it could have been much worse in my opinion, unless your were one of the ones whose home was flooded along Crooked Creek, I am sure they are not feeling any better now.
