A Million Miles Away

Sitting here listening to Duran Duran feeling like I am a million miles away from everything, missing being in the mountains with the warm moist sensations of the lush forests of wildflowers that blanket the mountainside.  Sitting here enduring another dark cold Indiana winter evening wishing the landscape would turn green and bring back the vivid color display that breathes life back into these old bones…Turning 50 sucks lol !!

Winter in Madison Indiana

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Holiday Season, been extremely busy as usual so posts have been staying on the skimpy side lately, but I have been lucky enough to get out and get some nice Winter pics already this year. Our snow totals have already surpassed all of last years total.

Madison Indiana is a great place for photography but add snow to the mix and images take on a new look. With opportunities not only from the downtown Historic District but you also have Clifty Falls State Park and Big Oaks NWR, finding subjects to shoot in this area is not the problem it’s just trying to find the time to get them in !!

Here is a photograph I captured in the Big Oak NWR just north of Madison, I really like the solitary feel to this image and of course it was a perfect subject for a B&W conversion. I love converting to b&w for most of my snow images, the mood you capture with b&W is great but add it to snow and you have  a really wonderful combination !!

Last year was a bust for snow but so far this year has been great and they are calling for snow a couple more times this week. So it looks like I might be able to capture quite a few images that I will be able to share with you . Hope you have wonderful and safe New Years Eve tonight and thanks for stopping by and taking a look at my work !!

2012 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

19,000 people fit into the new Barclays Center to see Jay-Z perform. This blog was viewed about 86,000 times in 2012. If it were a concert at the Barclays Center, it would take about 5 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

“Madison Indiana Weddings”

The one thing I love most about wedding photography is the hunt, and by that I mean not just the traditional family pose and whatnot, but the emotion filled image that doesn’t always come around often in other life events.

And trying to capture these images is like a hunt, you have to stake out the game and then be there when they pass thru the sights this shot my not ever happen again, so you better be ready and have a steady hand. I try my best to nail these images for the clients, I don’t always get them all, but I think I have succeeded enough now to have captured my fair share.

In this image of a wedding that I shot in Madison Indiana the ushers were having quite the time of getting the  aisle runner up and well… running, so the Bridesmaids were really enjoying the show. I  loved this shot because of the wide range of emotion it conveyed, from I am trying to take the high road and not laugh, to snickers and then the all out laugh just sealed the deal !!

These are the money shots and I believe the ones that bring back the best memories of that special day, so when you are shooting that wedding make sure you are on the hunt for these shots and it will be a great boost to your portfolio and the Brides Memory Book !!

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look and click on the image for best viewing !
