Black & White Sunrise

When you sit in front of your computer editing images as long as I do, you need to take a old file out sometimes and rework it just to break up the monotony, if not you tend to go a little mad. I pulled this image out from a few years ago on a trip to South Florida, I think it was around 8 in the morning and the sky wasn’t full of those vivid beautiful colors that are usually associated with a sunrise.  So with this I thought a B&W conversion might be neat, so I guess what I am asking can you get what usually would be a very colorful scene and turn it into a b&w and make it work ?

So any thoughts would be great, and it’s also really nice when you can go back thru your old files and find these little surprises that for some reason you didn’t really like in the first place, but become a gift now…sorta like Christmas !!

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look !!

“Cades Cove Sunrise”

What a  great day nothing to do but lay around for once, watch football and eat, don’t get many days like this.  Just finished editing another wedding, ready to start another one and getting ready for the Madison Indiana Chautauqua next Saturday as well.

But like a true photographer I thought now was as good as a time as any too post a image from a trip to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park from this past summer. This was a shot from a beautiful summer sunrise from Cades Cove, the light was really sweet that morning and it was a wonderful day to be out early in the cove !!

This isn’t the first time I have shot this tree but it was the first with the light playing out as it did, I kinda liked the surreal effect the light had on the tree and how it left such a golden hue across the landscape. There are not many places that I have visited that are as beautiful as Cades Cove especially in the morning, it is a definite must for any photographers out there looking for a wide array of photographic elements.

From the bears and deer to the vivid fall colors and the wonderful spring wildflowers, throw in the fog and other climactic elements and you can see why it is such a amazing place to to set up a tripod and spend a day or two shooting !!

So now it’s back to the Indianapolis Colts and they are still leading comfortably into the third quarter hope you have a great start to your week and as usual click on the image for best view !!

“Madison Regatta”

This is a huge weekend for Madison Indiana, the annual Madison Regatta is today thru Sunday. If you enjoy big crowds fast boats and a fun atmosphere this is the place to be.I would share some images with you if I had any but I am not much of sports photographer and I spend most of the time eating and indulging in adult beverages so I will just link you to the official site to get all the details.

If you are within a hour or two it is definitely worth the trip to be here, the hydroplanes can travel up to 200 mph and can put on quite a show, there will also be an fireworks display on Saturday night. There will also be plenty of live music for everyone and some great food as well, and it is always a great place to sit back and watch the diverse group of people that will walk the river this weekend.

Since I don’t have any shots of the boat race I will post one of the bridge they travel under, anyway have a great Fourth of July weekend and hopefully you can make it down to the race !!

“Midnight Blue”

After a two week vacation to South Florida and a week laying flat on my back from a pulled muscle maybe now I can get back to posting a few images I have been able to capture lately. First I wanted to thank my good friends and family Steve and Sharon Williams for putting up with us and showing us a wonderful time, South Florida is truly a beautiful place to live and vacation and I am very thankful of the hospitality we were shown.

I was able to get a few nice sunset shots and couple of night shots as well, I especially love this shot of the Naples pier I got late one evening as  my wife and I walked along the beach. the beaches on the Gulf coast are so beautiful and the Naples and Sanibel Island area were definitely my favorite places to walk and just chill out.  My son had an absolutely wonderful time filling his beach bucket with seashells and whatever else bits of debris he could find on our walks.

The area is truly a wonderful place  and I would highly recommend it to whoever was looking for a place too vacation, thanks for stopping by and taking a look !!

“Sunrise Over Madison Indiana”

Here is one from the other morning, I waded out onto a sandbar to get the perspective upriver, the light shining thru the morning fog was absolutely gorgeous that morning. I wasn’t really sure if I liked the ducks in the image but now after looking at it I don’t particularly think they hurt it either.

I really like shooting this bridge it just seems to give me so many different moods when I am able to photograph it, I would also like to spend more time shooting river images but I just can’t seem to be able to cram enough of hours into a day. I always say I am going to make it a point to shoot more of a certain type of image  and then usually something in life gets in the way.

I am just hoping to get enough time to shoot some images from this coming fall. I plan on a couple quick trips to the Smokies and then some work at Clifty and that will probably take what spare time I have, then it’s on to winter  which I am really not looking forward to.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look I hope you enjoy the images I really appreciate all the comments and support you have giving me over the last year or so and hopefully I will be able to share a image or two you might like in the coming weeks.  ( Best seen Large)
