This was another shot from last fall at Clifty Falls State Park, I got a little different perspective on this one, looking downstream as the sun was rising on the left side of the image. The light was very warm and pleasant, which gave the image a nice warm glow.
The settings were f/22, at 1/3 second, iso 200.
After this image postedย a large number of people contacted me to ask about the ghost face in the creek. I never even noticed this at first, but after viewing the image again and then going back to the org. raw file there is something definitely there. I am one that doesn’t believe in such things but it definitely makes for good conversation !!
I can not be the only person who sees a face in the water? ๐
stunning water effects here! Great work Bernie!
Bernie, the pics in your blog always look pretty good bightness and color wise (on my monitor at least). Would you mind telling me your “system” when preparing a photo for posting? What software are you using? Do you imbed any color profiles? What color space do you use during editing? That sort of thing. I’ll understand if it’s a trade secret or something. I’d be interested in light of my current adventure into color management.

This looks like it was taken a little later in the season. I went to shoot the foliage twice last year but it was extremely windy. Leaves were falling fast if not already fallen. I hope to go back someday and get a more productive shoot out of it. We’ll have to meet up next time if I’m out that way, as I think you were down at the Smokies when I was last there.
The face is there on my monitor! Cool picture.
Yes I can see a face! It looks like a baby. Very creepy.
Very nice perspective but that face is creeping me out! How cool is that???
Bernie, they are right. There is a face appearing in the shot. The left eye in the creek is unmistakeable. The chin, nose, mouth, forehead rather clear as well. I am not one for being super touchy-feely or a believer in the paranormal, but this shot is just weird! I know the image on the water has to be a reflection of items in the woods, but I can see nothing in the shot that would create sucha reflection. Perhaps the image of a Falls victim?
This is really weird, I didn’t notice it till I got back from work and everyone was pointing it out, I went back to the original raw file and it was there as well. It is getting close to Halloween you know very appropriate for this time of year.
Beautiful work, Bernie! I really appreciate your posting the settings that you used!
The first thing I noticed was the face… and you are right Bernie it is getting close to Halloween – insert goosebumps and shivers here!
That face! Definitely a spooky aspect — but in a lovely photo. Love the moss on the rocks.
awesome view point that you chose, and the warm glow is lovely.
That is soo cool! hmm, why didn’t I see the face the first time I looked at the shot?
That is a lovely shot, is it a nice hiking spot?
Parks over here in the UK are little places to picnic and take a nice stroll.
Beautiful… I love it ๐
Clifty is definitely a great place to hike Claire, very steep trails leading all over the canyon walls, great place to live close to.
Great job Bernie of setting your whitepoint, it is so easy to lose those beautiful atmospheric colors. I feel like I could get swept along so great job of composing!
I love the way you work the water Bernie. As for the face, it looks like the mummy to me.
Lovely, lovely photo!
I love the curving tree line in the background and the flow of water. Didn’t notice the face until I read the posts and took a second look…
Wow that’s beautiful!
this photos are wonderfuls
beautiful – I’d venture to guess you were a mermaid or merman in a previous life. ๐ You seem to really have a way with water. Nice work Bernie.
The face is obviously just a Photoshop job. Nothing remotely spooky about it.
You are not and I work at clifty falls state park in the office and put this image on my desktop..one day i just look and see a mans face in there, is it george washington or john brough???was it an accident or deliberate???
For the photographer….did you intentionally dub the mans face into the water, I have to know. If that was an accident then I will be very surprised.
No I did not put it in Vickie, it is in the original RAW file and I never noticed it till someone I work with asked me if I had put it in, I know it is hard to believe but it is in there.
First and foremost , very nice photo !
Love the overall perspective and the flow of the water in the creek !
Yeah, I saw the “Face” …… in the day and capturing this “Face” ….. very creepy , very distinct ….. however, nice capture !
The wonders of photography !
p/s: I prefer the flowers and waterfall ๐

This is a stunningly graceful image here!
Hmmm…Taking a second look.. Aha! I think I see it! Is it about in the middle of the pic?
This face is obviously too large to be a reflection of an actual human face, as in a ghost standing by the stream, face reflected in the water.
I’m guessing the conditions were just right to create an anomaly in which a face from another dimension, or another time just shows in the water and light reflected in the water.
Or… Is this the face of a Water Spirit, or the Spirit of those particular Woods? Again, not a human spirit, but a Being from another Dimension.
I found this wonderful photo looking for a picture of a stream or brook. It is one of the very nicest on all the internet.
Bernie, that is not the face of ghost, it is the impression of your face!!! ๐ Great shot Bernie.
