Ghost face in Creek !!!

This was another shot from last fall at Clifty Falls State Park, I got a little different perspective on this one, looking downstream as the sun was rising on the left side of the image. The light was very warm and pleasant, which gave the image a nice warm glow.

The settings were f/22, at 1/3 second, iso 200.

After this image postedย  a large number of people contacted me to ask about the ghost face in the creek. I never even noticed this at first, but after viewing the image again and then going back to the org. raw file there is something definitely there. I am one that doesn’t believe in such things but it definitely makes for good conversation !!

  1. Bernie, the pics in your blog always look pretty good bightness and color wise (on my monitor at least). Would you mind telling me your “system” when preparing a photo for posting? What software are you using? Do you imbed any color profiles? What color space do you use during editing? That sort of thing. I’ll understand if it’s a trade secret or something. I’d be interested in light of my current adventure into color management.

  2. This looks like it was taken a little later in the season. I went to shoot the foliage twice last year but it was extremely windy. Leaves were falling fast if not already fallen. I hope to go back someday and get a more productive shoot out of it. We’ll have to meet up next time if I’m out that way, as I think you were down at the Smokies when I was last there.

  3. Bernie, they are right. There is a face appearing in the shot. The left eye in the creek is unmistakeable. The chin, nose, mouth, forehead rather clear as well. I am not one for being super touchy-feely or a believer in the paranormal, but this shot is just weird! I know the image on the water has to be a reflection of items in the woods, but I can see nothing in the shot that would create sucha reflection. Perhaps the image of a Falls victim?

  4. This is really weird, I didn’t notice it till I got back from work and everyone was pointing it out, I went back to the original raw file and it was there as well. It is getting close to Halloween you know very appropriate for this time of year.

  5. beautiful – I’d venture to guess you were a mermaid or merman in a previous life. ๐Ÿ™‚ You seem to really have a way with water. Nice work Bernie.

  6. You are not and I work at clifty falls state park in the office and put this image on my desktop..one day i just look and see a mans face in there, is it george washington or john brough???was it an accident or deliberate???

  7. For the photographer….did you intentionally dub the mans face into the water, I have to know. If that was an accident then I will be very surprised.

  8. No I did not put it in Vickie, it is in the original RAW file and I never noticed it till someone I work with asked me if I had put it in, I know it is hard to believe but it is in there.

  9. First and foremost , very nice photo !

Love the overall perspective and the flow of the water in the creek !

Yeah, I saw the “Face” …… in the day and capturing this “Face” ….. very creepy , very distinct ….. however, nice capture !

    The wonders of photography !

p/s: I prefer the flowers and waterfall ๐Ÿ˜‰

  10. This face is obviously too large to be a reflection of an actual human face, as in a ghost standing by the stream, face reflected in the water.

I’m guessing the conditions were just right to create an anomaly in which a face from another dimension, or another time just shows in the water and light reflected in the water.

Or… Is this the face of a Water Spirit, or the Spirit of those particular Woods? Again, not a human spirit, but a Being from another Dimension.

I found this wonderful photo looking for a picture of a stream or brook. It is one of the very nicest on all the internet.
