“Beautiful Wildflowers”

As of this Saturday I will have done my third wedding in seven weeks with more to follow in the fall, I have also shot numerous portrait and other miscellaneous photographic work,  and I am really starting to miss what I first got into photography for and that was the nature side of it.

I have actually enjoyed the portrait side of photography, except for the endless editing, but you just can’t beat a cool spring morning hiking into  the wet green world of a Clifty Falls Canyon and photographing a beautiful stand of Wild Columbine or Trillium.  As beautiful as the weddings I have been a part of so far the real beauty of the natural world far outshines anything man can put together, not that I don’t enjoy my new gig, you just can’t replace the world outside our doorsteps.

This is a image of one of my favorite little wildflowers..The Blue-Eyed Mary, these little beauties grow in clusters along the creek bottoms that carve their way thru the hills and gorges that make up Southern Indiana. I shot these in Clifty Falls State Park near Madison Indiana one beautiful spring morning, it was one of those mornings when the fog hung close to the ground and the colors in the woods were so saturated and vivid you just  couldn’t feel more alive !!

That’s one of my favorite things about photography, just when I needed a break from the hectic world I live in now all I have to do is pull out some old files and the memories of a great day in the woods come flooding back to help you get thru the boredom of everyday life. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look, as always click on the image for best viewing !!

“More Wedding Fun”

Couldn’t resist posting another shot from this wedding, I really enjoy the more laid back images that come after the ceremony and everyone has made it thru without falling apart, and there is no better way to portray that fun than a good B&W conversion.

You can see the relief and joy in their faces as they work their way to the reception to visit with family and friends, I know that feeling because I felt the same way, it turned out to be a great night for the bride and groom as well as all their guests.

Hope you enjoy the shot and if you ever need a wedding or any other photographic service just get in touch and I will help you out, I am located in the Madison Indiana area you can call me at 812-701-3415.

“Model Photography”

He is another image from my studio, this time I was approached to do some head shots for a prospective  model, they were looking for some B&W shots for their portfolio and I was more than happy to oblige.

It is interesting how the light can can be applied to change the mood and look of the model, I am actually starting to understand studio lighting a bit,  you just can’t beat the mood you get with B&W conversions though and they add a wonderful touch to your work.  Hopefully I can secure more work from local models I really enjoy shooting them and it gives me valuable experience for any further work.

I took about 60 shots of this young lady and came away with about 12 really nice images, all were shot in RAW and then converted and I felt this shot was perfect for a B&W conversion. I hope you like the image and thanks for stopping by and taking a look, if you are in the Madison Indiana area and need anything done just give me a shout and I will help you with you anyway I can!!

“Madison Indiana Senior Portraits”

Another service I provide is Senior Portraits and this aspect of portrait photography may be the hottest thing on the market today. I really believe it has moved from your average High School portrait to more of a modeling tryout, I can still remember pic day when I was in school, man have things changed !!

It is a part of photography that embrace though and it is pretty neat  all of the great things kids and photographers can come up with to try and get the best shot.  I am actually just as guilty, especially with this shot I got with a girl from here in Madison Indiana. After using all the different backdrops and old buildings in town we had finally run out of ideas, we returned to my studio, after hanging out in front of my business and watching traffic stream by I came up with something a little different… for us at least !!

I suggested we take a chair out onto  Main Street and try to shoot between on coming traffic, I don’t think it was particularly dangerous since cars have a 20 mph speed limit, it was the police I was a little more worried about. After timing the traffic lights we were able to run out get a few shots and then run back onto  the sidewalk, no harm was done and we came away with some great shots.

The only problem now is whats next, the easy part is getting the shots its a lot harder trying to come up with something a little more original than the next guy !!

I hope you enjoy the image and once again click on it for best viewing !!

“Madison Indiana Wedding Photography”

Since I posted one of the Bride I better go ahead and show one of the Groom as well, I never realized until I started shooting weddings how stressful of a situation it has become, everything has to be almost perfect on the couples big day or you could you could ruin it for it for them very easily.  So far so good but I am sure sooner or later something bad is going to happen  and I just hope it is something minimal and that it works out.

At out last wedding we shot nearly 1600 images,  after a while I am sure even the most photographic Bride and Groom gets tired of the lens being in their face,  but I think it takes that many shots to get all the right moments and I think we actually missed a couple as well.

It really helps when the people you work with are as patient and as understanding as the last two weddings we shot, I couldn’t have asked for a more supportive or understanding group of people, I know after a while they really got tired of the whole thing and we didn’t help the stress level as well but in the end everyone stood up to the plate and got the job done.

My wife has helped me  tremendously and has now developed a little bit of the photography eye as well, it will be great to work with and spend more time with her from now on !!

Once again thanks for stopping by and tasking a look, if you need to contact me it’s 701-3415 and we can see what we can do for you.
