Calm before the Storm

Sitting here tonight waiting for the big one, the big one being a winter storm. According to the weather folk on social media this is going to be our biggest storm in quite a few years, since we really haven’t had a major accumulation in the past five years it shouldn’t be difficult to top it.

Our last really big snow was in 2004 I believe and topped out around twenty inches. I don’t think we beat that but you never know and if we do it should make for some crazy photography.

All these images I have posted here came from last week and that was just six inches so twelve plus will really make these more impressive. But with the weather you never know what it is going to happen so we will just have to see how it pans out.

Bridge over the Ohio River

One of the other cool sites in Madison Indiana is the Ohio River bridge. No matter how many times you photograph this bridge it always gives you a different look.

I have captured many scenes with rainbows, lightning, sunrises, sunsets, incredible cloud formations and even fireworks. There is also a wonderful walkway that spans it giving you remarkable views of the river valley and Madison.

And if you want some real adventure walk across the bridge in a heavy fog and feel the strange isolation as barges pass below you with their fog horns warning the valley of their travel, but not being able to see them move a hundred feet below you.

And my favorite part of the bridge photography is all the amazing reflections you can get day or night of this awesome structure that links Madison Indiana to Milton Kentucky.

So the next time you visit Madison be sure to take a walk along the river walk and maybe a stroll across the bridge you will be glad you did.

Fall at the Lanier Mansion

Can you imagine having to do this yard work, just kidding but here is another popular place to visit in Madison Indiana. The Lanier Mansion Historical site.

The Lanier Mansion is one of the best examples of Greek Revival architecture in the country and is considered to be the Jewel of Madison’s Historic District. It is a wonderful place to explore early life in the 1800’s when the river and railroads were the major players and Madison was one of most important cities in Indiana.

On this beautiful fall day I was able to explore the grounds and photograph this wonderful place shooting at different angles and positions. The warm light and leafs added a lovely touch to the landscape and made for a enjoyable afternoon of photography.

When visiting Madison Indiana make sure you plan a stop here, you’ll be glad you did !!

Madison Indiana Fountain

Here are a few shots of the Broadway Fountain from here in Madison Indiana, when you are looking for something cool to post on your blog and can’t seem to find something that really interests you the fountain is always a go to post lol !!

The fountains offers a variety of seasonal compositions that make it an amazing subject to photograph. From the Christmas lights with snow to the spring time back ground of red-bud the summer green with flowers and my favorite time of all the beautiful fall leaves that frame it so well.

If you travel to Madison it is always a sure bet to stop by the fountain, you can never go wrong photographing this amazing structure it makes a wonderful image to capture on your trip.

Thanks for stopping by a having a look!
