Calm before the Storm

Sitting here tonight waiting for the big one, the big one being a winter storm. According to the weather folk on social media this is going to be our biggest storm in quite a few years, since we really haven’t had a major accumulation in the past five years it shouldn’t be difficult to top it.

Our last really big snow was in 2004 I believe and topped out around twenty inches. I don’t think we beat that but you never know and if we do it should make for some crazy photography.

All these images I have posted here came from last week and that was just six inches so twelve plus will really make these more impressive. But with the weather you never know what it is going to happen so we will just have to see how it pans out.

Thunderstruck

Great song to be listening to when this scene unfolded.

Last year I sat on the Ohio River in Madison Indiana and waited for just the right moment to capture this image as thunderstorms raged just south of the river in Trimble County Kentucky.

I waited and waited for just the right moment and of course I missed it time after time and finally after 400 times I was able to capture what I thought was a pretty good image !!

I guess the moral would be perseverance pays off or maybe just be lucky instead lol !!

Whatever it was it worked out for me this stormy night !!

After the Storm…Madison Indiana

crazy sky mammatus 2 2018

Been a long time since I posted to this blog just can’t seem to find the energy or the words. The pics are another story I have a ton of shots that have not been posted before so maybe if I just post the pics and keep my words to a minimum I can pull this off.

The image was from a powerful line of thunderstorms from this past June and the clouds are Mammatus hope you enjoy viewing this !!

Another Tornado Video

One more…this is the Henryville Tornado, my sister lives in this small Southern Indiana Town, although she escapedĀ  without any damage many people on this March day did not !! The storm moved just south of us here in Madison but as I was picking my son up from school that day we were able to witness the super cell above it and also witnessed the debris falling all around us as the storm churned to our south.

It has been interesting going back and viewing these videos and reliving the memories of that stormy March day and of April 3 1974 as well. Hope you find this educational and it how serious these storms can be. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look !!

Tornado Video

I have seen a few Tornadoes in my life and been very close to a couple big ones, I don’t usually post much about them here because I like to keep my content original. But my son who is a weather freak talked me into posting some for you…so here you go !!
