Fall at the Lanier Mansion

Can you imagine having to do this yard work, just kidding but here is another popular place to visit in Madison Indiana. The Lanier Mansion Historical site.

The Lanier Mansion is one of the best examples of Greek Revival architecture in the country and is considered to be the Jewel of Madison’s Historic District. It is a wonderful place to explore early life in the 1800’s when the river and railroads were the major players and Madison was one of most important cities in Indiana.

On this beautiful fall day I was able to explore the grounds and photograph this wonderful place shooting at different angles and positions. The warm light and leafs added a lovely touch to the landscape and made for a enjoyable afternoon of photography.

When visiting Madison Indiana make sure you plan a stop here, you’ll be glad you did !!

Tunnel Falls

tunnel falls 1 2019

When you think of Indiana usually its basketball or corn fields that come to mind but in Southern Indiana there are an amazing number of large waterfalls that dot the canyons and gorges that lead into the Ohio River.

In Jefferson County there are over forty falls that are forty feet or bigger that call this area home. Clifty Falls has several large beautiful falls including Tunnel which is pictured here. Tunnel Falls is roughly 83 feet tall and fifteen feet wide and after an extended rainy period it can become quite the scene to behold.

With all the wildflowers and waterfalls our area has to offer Jefferson County can be quite the eco friendly place to come for a weekend trip to experience all the natural beauty.

Madison Indiana Fountain

Here are a few shots of the Broadway Fountain from here in Madison Indiana, when you are looking for something cool to post on your blog and can’t seem to find something that really interests you the fountain is always a go to post lol !!

The fountains offers a variety of seasonal compositions that make it an amazing subject to photograph. From the Christmas lights with snow to the spring time back ground of red-bud the summer green with flowers and my favorite time of all the beautiful fall leaves that frame it so well.

If you travel to Madison it is always a sure bet to stop by the fountain, you can never go wrong photographing this amazing structure it makes a wonderful image to capture on your trip.

Thanks for stopping by a having a look!

“Madison Indiana Photography”

Here is a shot from a recent session, instead of people I actually had some time to get out and shoot flowers, this doesn’t happen very much these days so I better take advantage of this. These weren’t shot at some far out wilderness destination, but actually came from my own backyard here in Madison Indiana, so if I got a little hot I could go back inside and sit in the AC for a while….I know I am soft !!

Most the flowers in my yard have pretty much bit it for the season because of the heat and lack of rain, but my coneflowers must love these type of conditions because they seem to flourish in them. Once again instead of just shooting this flower I tried to get a little more adventurous and shoot them with an artistic feel, hopefully I was able to convey that to you and you enjoyed my take on this often photographed subject.

Coneflowers are a can’t miss subject if you are into photographing flowers, they have a beautiful color and structure and are relatively close to eye level so you don’t have to kill your back bending over to photograph them. Just be mindful of your background as not to add too much cover and shoot them wide open for that artistic feel!!
